About Agora

One Earth.
Many perspectives.

From afar, we see a shared home. Up close, we see how differently we live. Both belong in Agora.

Perhaps you know the moment:

You care about someone. Then comes a single sentence – and suddenly you are strangers.

How do you keep talking without giving up your convictions?

We do not have to
be alike.

These are the questions Agora Humanum starts with: how we live together, examine claims and handle power. Empathy helps us understand people. Reason helps us examine what they say. Both require the courage to change our own judgment.

Three principles.
For us, too.

Reason

Examine claims. Make science understandable. Change our judgment when the reasons call for it.

Empathy

Try to understand what matters to others. Disagree without denying anyone their dignity.

Values

Equal dignity and responsibility for people, animals, nature and the future. Keep power limited and accountable, including our own side’s.

One voice.
An open invitation.

I am Marcus Machon. Agora Humanum begins as my author project. My hope is that it grows into a conversation across borders, and that people make a difference together.

Facts, interpretations and personal judgments should remain distinguishable. Sources belong here. So do corrections. AI can help with research, structure and translation; responsibility for the writing remains mine.

My perspective.
Not a neutral vantage point.

I live in Berlin, work independently and bring a European perspective. Freedom, equal dignity, social responsibility and protecting what makes life worth living do not belong to any one party. I want to judge arguments by their reasons, not by the side they come from.

My experiences, values and choice of topics influence my perspective too. Acknowledging that does not automatically make me objective. What matters is whether I apply the same standards to my own position, take strong objections seriously and correct mistakes. If you find an error, please send me the specific passage and evidence I can check.

Vision: what guides me and where we want to go →

Let us begin with an idea.
